GRAMMYS 2019 RED CARPET SHOWSTOPPER
The 61st Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, which was hosted by Alicia Keys, singer-songwriter. This year the red carpet was not dominated by skin revealing skimpy frocks. Instead, a more fashion-centric modesty totally won the night—something typically seen at the Oscar. Most of us were shockingly surprise that the Hollywood A‑listers' ensembles were so toned down to dramatic trains, sleek tailoring, long sleeves, and haute couture.
Jennifer Lopez wore a crystal encrusted white Ralph & Russo gown paired with a matching statement hat. Her hair was styled into a long, sleek ponytail down to her waist. The star kept her makeup simple yet striking as she wore her signature smoky eyes, bronzer and nude lips. Some say that Jennifer rarely makes a fashion faux pas, but the wide-brimmed hat overshadowed her dress.
Well, here's the backstory. Ralph & Russo is a European high fashion house that specializes in haute couture and ready‑to‑wear clothes. Jennifer snagged this look straight off the runway from their couture spring/summer 2019 collection. The fashion designers were inspired by María Félix and wanted to celebrate her cinematic Latin-American glamour. María was known as the most famous Mexican diva of all time with a larger‑than‑life personality.
So, I get it…way to go J. Lo!
